New Favorite Perfume
Happy New Year, everyone! Now that the holidays are over, I’ll try to slowly get back into blogging again. E and I did a lot of holiday shopping this Christmas season and couldn’t forget to pick some things here and there for ourselves (oops). We went to Saks one day and stopped by the Acqua Di Parma counter on a whim and fell in love with their perfumes. I loved that their scents were unique and different from the regular cosmetics brands. When it comes to choosing a perfume, I can be anywhere from sweet to musky to floral so it can be quite stressful for me to shop for perfumes. Thankfully though, I fell in love with the first scent I smelled, which was Mandorlo di Sicilia. By the way, Betsy, who helped us pick out a scent, was so friendly, nice, and knowledgeable about the products. I recommend her 100%.Mandorlo di Sicilia is described as “Sicily—a crossroads of art and culture, with almond as part of the local tastes and traditions. A sweet caress created with the fragrance of Mandorlo di Sicilia. Notes of star anise, bergamot and orange blend with green Mediterranean almond and ylang-ylang. The base notes blend cedarwood, vanilla and white musk.” It is definitely a sweet scent but nothing overpowering. It is quite similar to Lipstick Rose by Frederic Malle (if you know what that one smells like) but much more subtle and soft. Another thing I love about Acqua Di Parma is packaging. I really appreciate the case that the perfume comes in — it will come in handy when I travel.
My fiance also picked up a cologne for himself and he loved how Colonia smelled on him. This one also has a very subtle scent, and in my opinion, it also works on women. When I spray it on, it makes me feel like I’m at a spa. Although the scent seems to dissipate rather quickly, I actually don’t mind it because I love the whole experience of spraying perfume. You can also mix and match scents like Jo Malone and extend the lasting power by combining a bit stronger scent.
